about

Anima Mundi is a musical work by Vincenzo Zitello, composed of 22 tracks, corresponding to the 22 Major Arcans. All compositions were written and recorded with the Celtic harp in January 2018, in just 21 days. In this first phase the archetypal heritage of the Tarot took shape, with the fruitful immediacy of the Symbol itself. It is in fact through the mystical inspiration that the Bard collects images from the Elements of the World, and mixing them with his own soul he transforms them into sounds, thus becoming the Magus: the bridge between Heaven and Earth.
The sound features of the 22 tracks were filtered by the author's experiences, but the design they are part of, and the invisible matter that composes them, belong to a collective soul, as vast as the universal heritage that the Arcans themselves hold . The pure, timeless music that arises from Zitello's Celtic harp is dense with metaphysical language and represents better than any word a very high initiatory teaching: the symbolic path, which unfolds conventionally between the Fool and the World, between Alpha and Omega, reveals, in its deepest nature, that beyond the phenomenal realm there is no real separation between souls.
In a second phase, the author took care of the arrangements, refining them with meditative patience and the love of a skilled craftsman. Zitello played dozens of instruments, giving each card its own voice. The use of the strings, the theremin, the sound blade and the flutes, crowns the vibrant dense melodies of dreams: thus unfolds a range of sound inspirations ranging from the lost Golden Ages to the Middle Ages, up to the twentieth century avant-gardes.
Numerous musicians were involved in the third phase of the work.
